CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Winning pitcher Missy Murphy got the job done inside the circle and at the plate as Cedarville defeated Concordia (Mich.), 6-2, to complete a sweep of a non-conference doubleheader. The Lady Jackets rallied to win the opener, 7-6.
Murphy improved to 4-3 after allowing two unearned runs on four singles with five strikeouts and one walk. She helped her cause by going 2-for-3 with two RBI's against a Cardinal squad that blanked CU, 1-0, in the second game of the season on March 1 in Florida.
Jenna Fox doubled in two runs and scored twice. Emily Young stroked two hits including a double and Kendra Kassonie scored two runs for the Lady Jackets, who improved to 8-13 with their first twinbill sweep of the season. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
In the first game, Cedarville turned around a 6-2 deficit with three runs in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth to pull out a one-run victory. Paige Stewart's two-out RBI double scored Christina Zorn with the go-ahead tally to complete the comeback.
Stewart finished with three doubles and three runs batted in. Fox was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI's while Zorn scored four runs. Winning pitcher Kayla Thornsberry picked up her third victory of the season. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]
