CLERMONT, Fla. - A trio of freshmen helped the Lady Jackets to an 8-5 victory over Marywood in the second game of the day at the NTC Spring Games. Cedarville was blanked in the opener, 5-0, by Saint Anselm.
Winning pitcher Missy Murphy did the work inside the circle with 10 strikeouts during her complete-game performance. Rookie shortstop Paige Stewart was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, and two RBI's while classmate Kendra Kassonie went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Emily Young was 2-for-3 with two RBI's and Christina Zorn scored twice. The Jackets took the lead for good by breaking a 2-2 tie with three runs in the 3rd inning. [MARYWOOD BOXSCORE]
Cedarville did everything but score against Saint Anselm. The Lady Jackets tallied eight hits, yet failed to dent the plate by stranding nine baserunners.
