Stewart, Lady Jackets double up Rochester

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Paige Stewart had five hits on the day and tied a school single-game record with three doubles as Cedarville won both games of a non-conference doubleheader from visiting Rochester (Mich.), 7-4 and 7-1.

In the opener, righthander Jillian French won her second straight start. She tossed a complete game allowing just one earned run while striking out six.

Stewart and Jenna Fox each tallied two hits and two runs batted in. Kendra Kassonie and Christina Zorn added two hits and two runs scored apiece. The Lady Jackets totaled 11 hits and stole six bases. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]

Stewart matched a school record with three doubles in the nightcap which came in her first three trips to the plate. She drove in three runs and scored three times.

Kassonie had two hits and a stolen base while Michelle McQueen contributed a pair of bunt singles. Winning pitcher Emily Young allowed an unearned run and struck out four.

Cedarville improved to 14-21 with the two victories. The visiting Warriors dip to 9-17.

The three doubles in one game was first established by NAIA All-American Denise DeWalt in 1990. Penni Ruhl accomplished the feat twice in 1996 and Sara Koepke was the last CU player to do it in 2008. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
