CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets racked up 25 total hits to sweep a non-conference twinbill from visiting Spalding, 4-3 in nine innings and 9-1.
Cedarville had to come from behind to win the opener in extra innings. A sacrifice fly by Jenna Fox, her third RBI of the game, knotted the score at 3-3 with one out in the bottom of the 7th inning.
The Jackets pushed across the winner in the 9th. Kendra Kassonie led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Christina Zorn. Paige Stewart doubled to left center to bring Kassonie home with the deciding run.
Fox was 2-for-3 with a double while Meghan Creech had a pair of hits. Stewart totaled two hits and Zorn scored twice. Jillian French struck out five in 2 2/3 innings to get the win in relief. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]
Cedarville belted 14 hits in the nightcap which was halted in the 6th inning by the eight-run mercy rule. Stewart continued her torrid pace at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI's, and a run scored. She is 10-for-17 in her last four games.
Zorn was 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Kassonie tripled and tallied two runs. Emily Young had two hits and two RBI's, Missy Murphy tripled in two runs, and Kenleigh Ludlow had two hits and two runs.
Kayla Thornsberry gave up just five hits and picked up her third pitching victory of the season. The Lady Jackets have won five in a row to improve to 16-21 overall. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
