CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville swept an American Mideast Conference doubleheader from Carlow by scores of 4-3 and 8-0 to extend its winning streak to seven in a row.
The Lady Jackets scored all four of their runs in the 3rd inning of the opener. The big blow was a two-run single by Meghan Creech while the other two runs crossed the plate later on a Celtic throwing error.
Winning pitcher Jillian French tossed the first five innings and improved to 4-1. Kayla Thornsberry worked the final two innings to get credit for a save.
The two teams combined for 19 singles in the contest with CU registering 11 of them. Jenna Fox, Kendra Kassonie, Missy Murphy, Emily Young, and Christina Zorn had two hits apiece. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]
A six-run 3rd inning carried Cedarville in the second contest that was halted in the 6th inning by the eight-run mercy rule. Thornsberry was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts and no walks.
Kassonie tallied three hits including a triple and scored three runs. Paige Stewart was 3-for-4 with her league-leading 19th double and three RBI's. Fox and Creech also added doubles for the Lady Jackets, 18-21 overall and 5-5 AMC.
