ALLENDALE, Mich. -
Olivia Esbenshade shattered the Lady Jackets' 3,000 meter record to highlight Cedarville's performance at the Grand Valley State Big Meet.
The product of Marietta, Pa. toured the 10 laps in 9:50.28 to take more than nine seconds off the old school record
The previous mark of 9:59.39 was set by Samantha Modderman at the 2007 NAIA Indoor Championship.
Esbenshade met the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard in her second event this winter. She accomplished the feat last week in the 800 meters at Ohio Northern.
Freshman
Olivia Kundo placed 34th in the 3K in 10:11.93 - the sixth-fastest time in school history.
Seven Lady Jackets competed in the 5,000 meters with three cracking the 18-minute barrier.
Christy Jesson finished 13th in 17:36.01 which rates No. 6 on CU's all-time list while
Alaina Spears owns the No. 8 mark with a 16th-place time of 17:40.65.
Kayla Casaletto was 26th in 17:52.57 - also a career-best.
Next Up: Feb. 11 at Grand Valley State Big Meet, 9:00 a.m. EST.
