ALLENDALE, Mich. - It was a memorable day for Cedarville's
Rachel Sweeney at the NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship both on the track and in the classroom.
The Xenia, Ohio product placed 13th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:56.24.
Sweeney was also recognized with the prestigious Elite 90 Award which is presented to the student-athlete competing in the meet who possesses the highest cumulative grade point average.
A senior pharmacy major, she carries a perfect 4.0 GPA and is the first athlete from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference to receive the award in any sport.
The NCAA honors a deserving student-athlete in all 90 of the association's national championships.
