CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Yellow Jackets claimed the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Men's Cross Country Classic for the second time in the past three years with a ten-point cushion.
Cedarville totaled 65 points to edge runner-up (75). Malone (115) was third in the 20-team field at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course.
Joey Merrill led the way in fourth place overall in 24:47.8, pacing a strong pack that produced five scoring finishers in the top 25.
Joey Carroll followed in eighth (24:58.5) while senior
J.J. Varner was close behind in 13th (25:15.4).
The Jackets sealed the win with strong contributions from
Trevor Billingsley (20th, 25:30.6) and
Jeremiah Hetrick (24th, 25:35.8). Freshman
Jonathan Christopher (27th, 25:38.3) and
Kolson Kytta (30th, 25:42.0) completed CU's top seven.
