Cedarville University Yellow Jackets

The final male Courtyard Marriott Springfield Athlete of the Week is 2018-19 Yellow Jacket Club Athlete of the Year Tommy Ansiel. The sophomore from Warrenville, Illinois, selected for the honor by a vote of CU head coaches, was the 2019 NCAA Division II outdoor national pole vault champion. Ansiel cleared a school-record 17-feet 7.25-inches (5.37 meters) at Javelina Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M University - Kingsville on May 23. The victory completes a phenomenal 2019 spring campaign for Ansiel in which he posted the top five outdoor marks in school history. His meet titles included the G-MAC, Ohio State Jesse Owens Classic, and the Azusa Pacific Invitational.
