Cedarville sweeps UC-Clermont

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Yellow Jackets outlasted Cincinnati-Clermont 3-2 in 11 innings and then blasted the Cougars, 10-1, to take both games of a non-conference doubleheader.

Cedarville scored an unearned run in the bottom of the 11th to win the opener. #Juan Martinez, Jr. opened the inning with a single and then moved to second when Cameron McWilliams#' sacrifice bunt was mishandled for an error.

The lead runner was forced out at third on Alex Beelen's fielders choice grounder, but Andrew York singled to right center to score McWilliams to end it.

York and Dan Petke had two hits each in the game while Michael Roe doubled. The Jackets stranded 13 runners on base.

Logan Kasabian pitched the final three innings in relief to get the win and improve to 2-1. Starting pitcher #T.J. Taylor# worked eight innings allowing two earned runs and striking out four.

Paul Hembekides went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs in the second contest. Petke was 2-for-3 with three RBI's, Beelen tripled with two runs scored, and Nate Davenport belted a three-run shot for his fifth homer of the campaign.

Winning pitcher David Ledbetter allowed just three hits in five innings with four strikeouts. Aaron Smith fanned four more in the final two innings.

Cedarville has won four straight to move to 17-6 overall.
