Jackets go the distance to edge Otterbein

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Nate Davenport and Derek Ogle had three hits each while Michael Roe pitched eight-plus innings to lead Cedarville to an 8-6 non-conference decision over Otterbein.

The Yellow Jackets, 24-9 overall, needed all nine innings to defeat the NCAA Division III Cardinals. CU took the lead for good with two runs in the sixth inning and added two insurance tallies in the eighth.

Otterbein, 11-11, left the bases loaded when center fielder Rob Nesteroff tracked down the final out of the game on the warning track.

Davenport was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI's. Ogle was also 3-for-4 with a run batted in.

Andrew York recorded two hits including a double with two RBI's. Dan Petke added two hits with a double and Nesteroff scored twice. Cedarville banged out 15 hits on the afternoon but stranded 15 runners on base.

Roe improved to 5-1 on the mound. He allowed three earned runs in 8 1/3 innings with six strikeouts. Aaron Smith worked the final two outs to get the save.
