Carsyn Koch won the 800 meters in an NCAA automatic qualifying time and
Olivia Esbenshade hit the provisional mark to pace the Lady Jackets to a runner-up finish at Ohio Northern.
Koch, the defending Division II indoor 800 meter champion, was a winner in 2:07.38. It set meet and ONU Sports Center records plus rates #2 on Cedarville's all-time list.
With the conversion to 2:05.93 for the national meet, the Washburn, Maine native currently has the top time in the country.
Esbenshade was 3rd in the 800 in 2:11.90 to meet the provisional qualifying standard. It was her second-fastest time ever, ranks #7 at CU, and the conversion of 2:10.40 places her 9th in the nation.
Koch and Esbenshade teamed up with
Carly Rose and
Lyndsey Smith to win the 4 x 400 meter relay in a meet record 3:58.69. It's the 8th-fastest performance in Lady Jackets' history.
Christy Jesson won the mile in 5:11.88 with Rose as the runner-up in 5:15.74.
Olivia Kundo led a 1-2-3 CU finish in the 3,000 meters with a winning effort of 10:23.97.
Alaina Spears (10:25.94) and
Kayla Casaletto (10:33.73) placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Smith was the 200 meter runner-up in 26.40 seconds.
Samantha Reece took 3rd in the 60 meter dash in a personal-best 8.07 seconds.
The host Polar Bears won the 15-team meet with 121.50 points. Cedarville totaled 107 points while Otterbein was 3rd with 68.
