NAPERVILLE, Ill. -
Carsyn Koch ran the third-fastest 800 meters in NCAA Division II history and
Olivia Esbenshade won the 1,500 to lead the Lady Jackets at the North Central Invitational.
Koch, a junior from Washburn, Maine, torched the field with a clocking of 2:02.87 to win the race by more than six seconds. She took more than two seconds off of her No. 1 time in the country this spring.
The defending NCAA champion already owns the top 800 mark on the
Division II all-time list of 2:02.39 set last year.
Koch now possesses the Nos. 1, 3, 5, and 6 fastest times ever run in DII as well as the ten best efforts in Lady Jacket history.
Esbenshade stepped up with a personal-best 4:26.73 to take the 1,500 meters. The mark met the Division II provisional qualifying standard and currently ranks No. 14 in the NCAA this spring.
The Marietta, Pa. product turned in the fourth-fastest time in CU women's track history .
Elsewhere,
Christy Jesson placed 4th in the 5,000 meters with a career-best 17:17.33. She hit the NCAA provisional standard with a time that rates No. 4 all-time at Cedarville.
Alaina Spears also PR'd in 17:24.50 to finish 7th and rank No. 9 on the Lady Jackets' Top 10.
Kayla Casaletto was 9th in 17:34.05.
Nicole Perez placed 15th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 11:13.15 while
Carly Rose was 18th in the 800 meters in 2:16.70.
